Dundee sexual assault: Teenage boy arrested after a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Broughty Ferry play park

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following a police investigation into the sexual assault of a child near a Tayside play park over the weekend.

A seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Saturday, July 10, between 5pm and 6.30pm near the Castle Green Play park in Broughty Ferry.

Police Scotland made an appeal for information on Monday, July 12, asking anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Officers have now confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the incident. He has been released pending further investigation and inquiries are ongoing.

Police Scotland has assured local residents that the investigation to date still indicates that this was an isolated incident.

Yesterday, Detective Inspector Gail Hill said that the incident was incredibly distressing for the child involved and her family.

She added that residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
