MacKenzie Group, which is based in Glasgow and Shanghai, said it hit upon the idea of the Scotch Whisky Tasting Challenge at an exhibition in China where it ran an informal competition inviting people to identify a range of different whiskies.

Managing director Craig MacKenzie said: “Our experience illustrated that the vast majority of Chinese people have yet to be introduced to the fascinating world of Scotch whisky. That applies in other parts of the world as well. So we decided to introduce a whisky tasting challenge to bring good Scotch to a global audience.”

The challenge contains a tartan presentation box, four sample bottles of premium whiskies, including a five-year-old peated malt, a hip flask, tasting notes, a whisky map and a bottle cork-themed USB with full instruction video.
