The fast foods giant is to launch a new wrap range in October in the highly competitive lunchtime market. It will include barbecue, hot peri peri and sweet chilli chicken wraps, as well as a new entrant on the McDonald’s menu of pulled pork. The group, which makes five million burgers a week in the UK, only offers a limited range of chicken wraps at present.

Paul Pomroy, McDonald’s UK managing director, said: “There’s no reason why people who love spice can’t have Tabasco on their chicken. It’s not just new products we’re introducing, it’s also where we can put twists on old favourites.”

The menu revamp is part of a three-year modernisation plan at McDonald’s.
