Khushi’s in Edinburgh outlets expansion plan

A RESTAURANT chain credited with bringing Indian food to Scotland has unveiled plans to expand two of its outlets in Edinburgh.

Khushi’s has applied for permission to double the seating at its 100-cover flagship restaurant on Antigua Street by building an extension to the rear and expanding into its cellar.

The family-owned group, which employs 40 people, is also refurbishing its Mithas fine dining site in Leith to add a cocktail bar, in a break with the chain’s “bring your own bottle” policy.

News of the expansion plans comes as the company continues to bounce back from a fire in 2008 that destroyed its restaurant on Victoria Street. As part of the firm’s recovery, Mithas was opened in 2011, with the Antigua Street site being added last year.

Khushi’s, which also has a site in Dunfermline, was opened in 1947 by Khushi Mohammed on Edinburgh’s Potterrow.
