Graham’s: Billy Keane to be non-executive director

DAIRY firm Graham’s will today unveil former Robert Wiseman Dairies managing director Billy Keane as a non-executive director.

Keane spent 18 years at Wiseman, serving as finance director before becoming managing director in July 2010. He left the business in November 2012, nine months after German yoghurt maker Muller mounted a £279.5 million takeover.

• A former diarist of this parish has swapped the cut-and-thrust world of public relations agencies to help one of Britain’s biggest utility firms deal with the backlash over rising energy prices. Ed Black has joined Scottish Hydro-owner SSE after leaving Weber Shandwick.

• Law firm Harper Macleod has today named Ken Ross as a partner in its Edinburgh office. Ross joins from Balfour & Manson, where he has led the commercial law practice for the past three years.

Ross had previously spent 25 years at Burness, including three as managing partner.

• Gordon Steele starts today at HBJ Gateley as a partner in its litigation practice. Steele was head of dispute resolution at Paull & Williamsons.

• International Correspondence Schools (ICS), the Glasgow-based distance learning specialist saved last year by a group of investors led by Angus MacDonald, has named Sean Grant as its commercial director. Grant joins from Home Learning College.

• WSP, the engineering consultancy that has worked on projects including the new South Glasgow Hospital and the refurbishment of Edinburgh’s Waverley station, has made a string of appointments, including hiring Andrew McCussker as regional director for land quality and Stewart Browne as a principal consultant.
