In addition, 192,100 people have received the second dose – an increase of 10, 221 since yesterday.

51,405 people in total received vaccinations yesterday.

The First Minister also announced that ‘virtually all’ over 65 year-olds have now had a first dose of the vaccine and so have 74% 60-64 year-olds, 44% of 55-59 year-olds and 35% of 50-54 year-old.

624 new cases of the virus have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

This represents 2.7% of all tests carried out and takes the total number of confirmed cases up to 211, 854.

405 people are in hospital, 17 fewer than yesterday, with coronavirus.

38 people are intensive care, the same as yesterday, with the virus.

Sadly, 7 deaths have been registered of people who first tested positive with the virus.

This takes the total number of deaths registered under the daily measurement up to 7, 536.

However, the latest National Records of Scotland data published yesterday shows the total number of deaths related to covid is now closer to 10,00.

At her briefing this afternoon, Nicola Sturgeon conveyed her condolences to everyone who has suffered a bereavement.

On Tuesday, the first anniversary of lockdown, the Scottish Government will commemorate all those who have lost their lives to the virus in a minute’s silence.

The R number will be published later on today and Nicola Sturgeon commented during her covid update today that this is expected to be “around or just below one.”
