Coronavirus in Scotland: Nicola Sturgeon receives blue Covid envelope as next group is set to be vaccinated

The First Minister of Scotland has received a letter offering her a Covid vaccine as she confirms all adults are on track to receive the first dose by July.

Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement today on Twitter confirming her age group – over 50s – are set to be vaccinated by the middle of April.

Her message read: “My blue envelope has arrived (it really does soften the blow of being 50).

“We’re on track to offer first doses to all over 50s, unpaid carers and adults with underlying health conditions by mid April, and all adults by end of July (supplies permitting).

"My thanks to our vaccination teams.”

The latest government figures show a total of 2,285,711 people have received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine in Scotland, and 263,236 have received their second dose.

Yesterday ten new coronavirus deaths were recorded and 701 people were confirmed to have contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.
