'Clarke cost us that', 'Great attitude to come from behind twice' - Scotland fans react to 2-2 draw with Austria

The manager came in for criticism from some Tartan Army footsoldiers while others pointed the finger at the team for not turning up until they were a goal down.

Most reaction, though, was from followers relieved to have taken something from the match.

Sam Taylor said: "That’ll do. If offered a point before the game I’d have taken it all day. Move onto Sunday."

Adam Farmer added: "Could have had all three points if the ref wasn't incompetent."

Callum Grant wrote: "Happy days. Don’t see goals like that being scored for Scotland very often."

Daryl Fleming tweeted: "Poor performance but decent point after being behind twice. Thought Austria looked average, but we were all over the place at the back. No one knew who was supposed to be pressing/closing down."

Jamie Barwood said: "Good result but we could’ve won the game with the chances, on to the next one."

Gordon Kidd wasn't happy: "Clarke costs us that. Negative and inept. A forward-thinking manager takes the points. But it’s okay as we should have had a penalty and showed good character... Also, play one left-back!"

Calvin Steiner had some words of praise: "From getting pumped off Kazakhstan to coming back twice for a draw against a decent Austria side. Steve Clarke has done some job so far."

Grant Young wrote: "Why are so many people happy about a draw? Dropped two points at home, Scotland need to be winning these games to stand any chance. Never mind about what the ref did, Scotland didn’t turn up until they went a goal down."

John Mcilwaine added: "Great attitude to come from behind twice. Take the point in the end. Scott McTominay is a player."

Last word to Dillon Jahn who concluded: "Considering we were behind twice tonight earning a point is a decent result. Israel game more important now, need to pick up all three points and it’s a decent start to qualification."
