According to the Daily Record, the Scotland centre-back would have had the opportunity to join either Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls, both of whom were ready to make offers for the 30-year-old.

However, have recently become a father again, Gallagher is not interested in uprooting his family and taking them across the Atlantic.

The Motherwell defender has been routinely linked with a move to boyhood heroes Celtic, though Dundee United are also said to be keenly interested in signing him.

Gallagher’s contract at Fir Park expires this summer and he’s free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with any other club. An offer is on the table for him to sign an extension, though the Steelmen have braced themselves for the player’s exit.

Gallagher is expected to be named among Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the 2020 European Championships.
