The League Two leaders will get their season back underway this weekend after the lower leagues were suspended in January due to the rise in coronavirus cases throughout Scotland.

They’ve decided to add to their squad ahead of Saturday’s match against Stranraer with the addition of Connell and fellow Parkhead youngster Ryan Mullen.

Connell was signed by the Glasgow giants from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2019 for a fee reported to be around £350,000. He was handed a four-year contract.

Despite playing ten times in the second tier of English football with the Lancashire club, Connell has yet to make an appearance for the first-team at Celtic Park, featuring only for the club’s colt team in the Challenge Cup.

Goalkeeper Mullen heads out on loan for the second time this season having spent a few weeks at League One side Cove Rangers in the autumn.

Queen’s Park head coach Ray McKinnon said: “I am absolutely delighted to get both deals over the line and get the players in for what is going to be a very busy period ahead.

“We have needed cover in the goalkeeping position and have been actively looking for some time so it’s very pleasing to have the opportunity to bring Ryan in. Luca is a very talented player who is left sided which will give us good balance in the squad and added competition for places.

“The acquisition of both players really does strengthen the squad for the run in.”
