Cases proceed at Edinburgh Sheriff Court as two staff test positive with Covid

One of Scotland’s busiest courts has been hit by a Covid-19 outbreak among its staff.

Two office workers at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tested positive with the virus on Monday and were immediately quarantined at home.

Further staff members attached to the court’s clerk’s office have now been told not to attend work and to self-isolate for the next ten days.

A Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service [SCTS] spokesperson said : “.NHS Lothian Health Protection Team have been informed and all relevant health and safety procedures are being carried out.

“A local risk assessment has been undertaken. The court remains open and business is continuing.

“We rigorously follow Public Health Scotland guidance to minimise the spread of Coronavirus and have an enhanced cleaning regime in place in all our buildings.

“Measures are also in place to ensure two metre physical distancing is maintained and all court and tribunal users must wear face coverings in public areas and court rooms unless required to speak.”
