Zurich set to move business to Ireland

ZURICH is set to transfer its £35 billion British life insurance operation from the UK to Ireland to take advantage of the latter's lighter tax regime.

The insurer is negotiating with the Financial Services Authority over a move that would see it follow UK firms including United Business Media and Shire Pharmaceuticals across the Irish Sea.
