Xodus floats off with Statoil deal

ENERGY consultancy Xodus Group has won a contract from Norwegian heavyweight Statoil to carry out an environmental impact assessment for the world's first full-scale floating wind turbine.

Aberdeen-based Xodus, which made the announcement yesterday at the opening of the All Energy conference in the Granite City, will look at the possible impact that five floating wind turbines could have on an area off the north-east coast of Scotland. Statoil's demonstration turbine has been operating off the coast of Norway for more than a year.
