Earlier this year, Kier completed a similar project on Dumbarton Road in Partick, which Brian McQuade – managing director of its Scotland and north-east England business – said highlighted the builder’s “continued commitment to the construction sector in Scotland”.

Pip Prongué, director of Lysander Student Properties, added: “The sites will go a long way in supporting the accommodation needs of young students attending university in Glasgow for years to come.”
