Vp swoops on First Engineering plant

HARROGATE-BASED equipment rental firm Vp has bought the plant business of Glasgow-based rail infrastructure company First Engineering for £1.2 million.

Vp has struck the deal through its rail equipment subsidiary Torrent Trackside. First is part of listed support services group Babcock International Group.

Jeremy Pilkington, chairman of Vp, said: "The acquisition of the rail portable plant rental business of First Engineering is a significant development for Torrent Trackside and further enhances our strategic relationship and alliance with First Engineering."
