UK firms that ignored shareholder rebellion named

COMPANIES that failed to respond to shareholder concerns about remuneration have been named in a report by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF).

Analysis of the 2013 AGM season showed oil and gas firm Afren, engineering giant Babcock and satellite company Immarsat did not “listen and learn” unlike most companies that had faced shareholder rebellions in 2012, NAPF said.

Its chief executive Joanne Segars said that highlighting the errant firms might cause them to “reflect, listen… and introduce changes next year”.
