Two leaving as Wood revamps board

OIL and gas services firm Wood Group has undertaken a shake-up of its boardroom as it revealed that two senior directors will leave in June.

Les Thomas, the former chief executive of Wood Group’s production facilities division and its current health and safety director will leave alongside Mark Papworth, the chief executive of its gas turbine services (GTS) business.

No reason was given for the shake up, although chairman Sir Ian Wood said: “They depart with our best wishes.”

The firm said Cinzia De Santis, group head of health and safety, will take over Thomas’s role and report directly to group chief executive Allister Langlands.

Papworth, a member of the board since 2006, will be replaced by Mark Dobler, who is promoted from his role of president of the engineering, procurement and construction division.

Wood said: “The board is grateful for the significant contribution that both Les and Mark have made to Wood Group over a number of years.

“Les led the group’s production facilities business through a successful period of growth and internationalisation and has championed year-on-year improvement in the group’s safety culture and performance.

“Mark leaves our Wood Group GTS business in a much-stronger position and well placed to benefit from the strong long-term outlook for gas fired power generation.”
