Trig pays £246m for stake in six Scots wind farms

The Renewables Infrastructure Group (Trig) is to buy stakes in six Scottish wind farms for £246 million.

The deal will see the firm acquire a 49 per cent equity interest in Fred Olsen Wind, which is currently the sole owner of the sites owns the sites across Aberdeenshire, East Lothian and Moray.

With a total generating capacity of 433 megawatts (MW), the projects comprise Crystal Rig 1 and 2 in East Lothian, Rothes 1 and 2 and Paul’s Hill in Moray and Mid Hill in Aberdeenshire.

Richard Crawford, infrastructure director at InfraRed Capital Partners, the investment manager to Trig, said: “This is a major expansion in the size of Trig’s business, increasing the portfolio by approximately half and bringing further advantages of scale and project diversification to Trig’s investors.”

Following the deal, Trig’s generating capacity will swell by 48 per cent to 658MW.
