Sustrans is launching the Scottish Workplace Journey Challenge, funded by Transport Scotland and aiming to cut the number of single-occupancy car trips made for commuting journeys and inspire more people to travel in ways that benefit their health, well-being and the environment.

It uses an online platform where participants log their sustainable journeys and vie for top position on a leader board. Challengers will have access to feedback on how many calories they’ve burned and the amount of money they’ve saved on each journey by choosing healthy, green and cheap alternatives to driving.

Individual challengers will be judged on the number of journeys they complete while workplaces are judged on the overall rate of participation in the team.

Jenny Muir, Sustrans smarter choices workplace coordinator, said: “Sustrans is encouraging everyone to have an active, healthy commute by hitting the pavement and clocking up some miles for the Scottish Workplace Journey Challenge.

“Improve your health, increase your wealth, and reclaim rush hour. Gear up to the Challenge.”
