Tennent’s lager sales volumes fall

Irish drinks group C&C yesterday revealed that its flagship Scottish lager brand Tennent’s saw sharp falls in both volumes and revenues in the three months to end‑November.

C&C, whose chief executive is former S&N boss Stephen Glancey, said Tennent’s volumes fell 15.7 per cent while net revenues were off 3.2 per cent.

However, it said: “While the reported volume and net revenue in Tennent’s are weak, the underlying economic performance in the quarter was robust. In the independent free trade in Scotland the brand continues to excel.”
