STV wins first BBC3 contract

STV yesterday won its first commission from digital television channel BBC3 as the Glasgow-based broadcaster continues to grow the production side of its business.

A pilot for a panel show called Fake Reactions will be filmed at STV’s studios at Pacific Quay.

The programme, in which six celebrities will have to hide their reactions to “an array of unusual situations”, will be presented by BBC Radio 1 disc jockey Matt Edmondson. It was developed with American production company Kinetic Content, partly based on a Fuji TV game show format.

Gary Chippington, head of entertainment for STV Productions, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the team at BBC Three on this enormously exciting project.”

Alan Tyler, executive editor for entertainment commissioning at the BBC, added: “Matt is a terrific talent whose rapier sharp wit really brought a funny and inventive format to life.”
