Staying in your home is a Job Worth Doing

HANDY man company Job Worth Doing is adding 80 posts in Scotland to meet growing demand from homeowners who are “staying put” rather than selling.

The firm’s business in Scotland has doubled as the number of home improvement jobs rose from 250 a week to 500, the firm said.

The additional staff will join Job Worth Doing’s branches in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Its Glasgow branch is also expanding its warehouse to allow space to store an increase in products that the team of trades professionals will be fitting in homes across the region.

Chief executive Ian Blackhurst said: “With the housing market the way it is and more and more people struggling to sell their homes, an increasing number of homeowners are deciding to stay put. This often means carrying out improvement work to their existing property and that’s where we come in.

“We have had a fantastic start to 2012 and we are expecting both our direct to consumer and affiliate businesses to continue growing at pace this year as people struggle with increasingly busy lifestyles and are adopting the ‘GSI’ (get someone in) approach to home improvement.”

The firm is part of the larger Cheshire-based My House Group, which includes Space Kitchens, Weatherseal and Zenith Staybrite. Job Worth Doing has a network of more than 1,000 trades professionals that tackle a range of projects, from assembling flat packs to decorating, plumbing and building extensions.
