Software company to open office in England

A FIFE software company that counts BAE Systems, BSkyB and Bristow Helicopters among its clients is to expand its workforce and push south after seeing profits more than double last year.

Cooper Software is Europe’s largest independent provider of products and services developed to tap into applications built by IFS, the Swedish software heavyweight.

Managing director Frank Cooper said the last six months had been “incredibly busy” for the firm, which he founded in 2005, and it was benefiting from its close working relationship with IFS.

Commercial director Richard Potter said the firm was now a major supplier of barcode applications for warehouse and inventory management systems.

It currently employs 30 people and expects to add a further six people over the coming months.

Profits soared 140 per cent to £301,000 last year, on revenues 42 per cent higher at £1.4 million, and Cooper said he was confident that this growth can be replicated in the current financial year.

He said the firm was looking to open an office in England this year to help it deliver more projects to its growing client base.

“The development centre will remain in Dunfermline, but we will have a number of satellite sites opening around the country to be able to support some of the major projects we’ll be working on,” said Cooper.
