SeaEnergy to launch ship management arm

Energy services group SeaEnergy has unveiled plans to launch a ship management company to support the offshore oil and gas and windfarm sectors.

The Aberdeen-based firm said its analysis had shown that ships using gangways that compensate for the movement of the sea offer “the most cost-effective, efficient and reliable means of transferring technicians”.

A recent survey by trade body Oil & Gas UK found that confidence in the safety of North Sea helicopters has fallen in the wake of two Super Puma ditchings last year.

Aim-quoted SeaEnergy has appointed Rennie Cameron, formerly of Brooklyn Shipping, to head up its ship management firm.

Mike Comerford, the group’s director of operations, said: “We’re delighted to be adding a high-quality, cost-focused ship management capability to the group.

“This builds on the existing aspects of our business, allows us to broaden our range of services to clients, and creates a unique offering underpinned by a deep understanding of the technical and operational requirements of ‘walk to work’ operations from dynamically positioned vessels.”
