SE ramps up growth drive

SCOTTISH Enterprise (SE) chairman Crawford Gillies is to use a visit to a technology spin-out company tomorrow to kickstart his agency’s push to stimulate faster economic growth.

Chief executive Lena Wilson launched the strategy in March as part of SE’s “ambitious” three-year business plan.

Now Gillies will move the work up a gear by laying down a challenge to companies to approach the agency for help to grow. He will outline measures that the agency can implement to help firms develop extra products or services.

Identifying markets and helping businesses break overseas are also on the agency’s agenda.

Gillies will visit Edinburgh-based Sensewhere, a spin-out from Edinburgh University that makes technology that allows mobile phones to work out their position inside buildings.
