Scottish renewables firm to buy US outfit

SENERGY Alternative Energy, a division of Aberdeen-based energy services group Senergy, has announced it is in advanced negotiations to buy American firm SGC Engineering.

The two companies yesterday said terms of the deal had been agreed, and that the acquisition would strengthen their positions, in particular in the renewable energy sector.

Maine-based SGC would add about 60 staff to Senergy's current head count of 450, which includes 65 in its renewable energy business.

The acquisition is expected to be completed before July.
