Scottish firms in line for top UK business awards

A NUMBER of Scottish firms have been named as finalists for this year’s National Business Awards.

Edinburgh-based video conferencing firm NAC Networkz and Johnstone-
based Jenier Teas are contenders for the start-up business of the year.

Elan’s hair salon, based in Inverurie, has been shortlisted for the sustainability award while independent travel group Barrhead Travel, based in Glasgow, is contesting the employer of the year award.

Michelin Tyre is up for the transformational change award while East Kilbride label manufacturer Worldmark International is in the international growth category. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 13 November.

More than 150 businesses across the UK will contest the National Business Awards in partnership with Orange and supported by The Scotsman.

Baroness Virginia Bottomley, who chairs the judging panel, said: “These finalists demonstrate how companies are succeeding in the current climate through innovation, originality and tenacity. It’s good to see a broad range of companies both in sector and size – an impressive representation of the potential British businesses have.”
