The Hearing Clinic UK, which was founded in 2012 by third generation hearing aid audiologists, brothers Chris and Martin Stone, has also added ten jobs, taking its skilled team to 28.

The company, which has acquired My Hearing south of the Border on undisclosed terms, offers a range of devices for children by its inhouse paediatric consultants alongside a range of adult audiology services.

It now has seven branches, in Edinburgh, Stirling, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Merseyside and its headquarters in Glasgow, and is on track to acquire further businesses in 2021 and roll out a franchise model.

The Stone brothers followed in the footsteps of their grandfather who was posted to the audiology department of Glasgow Royal Infirmary after the Second World War, then subsequently went on to build a portfolio of clinics in 1963, which their father continued to expand until 2008, spanning Scotland, England and southern Spain.

The brothers aided in the transfer over to Amplifon, the world’s largest retailer of hearing devices when their father and grandfather retired and sold up. Before his passing in 2014 their grandfather, who would have celebrated his centenary in May this year, was awarded for being the longest practicing audiologist in the UK in 2006.

The Hearing Clinic UK, which has remained open during lockdown, has been providing hearing products and services for some 650 new patients each month since March. It specialises in using the most advanced and innovative technology from top manufacturers including Phonak, Resound and Widex.

Chris Stone said: “Thanks to the highly skilled team we have on board, we’ve continued to provide an outstanding service to our patients at every branch which all feature state of the art 360-degree surround sound clinic rooms.

“Despite investing heavily in PPE and safety measures and having to reduce the number of patients we see due to safe distancing guidelines, we are very proud that we’ve be able to drive our growth plans forward, resulting in securing and creating new jobs.”
