Scots urged to support 2015 Will Aid

SCOTS are being urged to write their will and support a range of good causes at the same time.

More than half of adults in the UK have yet to have a will drawn up

The annual Will Aid campaign runs until the end of November and sees participating solicitors donate their usual fees for drawing up the legal document to charity.

Research suggests only 53 per cent of adults in the UK have made legal provision for what they would like to happen to their estate upon their death, and around one in three people die without ever drawing up a will - meaning relatives can face a stressful task of fulfilling their loved one’s wishes.

Solicitors participating Will Aid suggest a donation of £95 for a single will or £150 for a pair of mirror wills.

The campaign also encourages those who have already drawn up a will to ensure it is revised at appropriate intervals, usually around every three to five years, to ensure it is up to date.

Since its foundation in 1988, Will Aid has enabled legal firms to raise over £17 million for nine UK charities, including Save the Children and the NSPCC, as well as encouraging thousands to make appropriate legal provision for their deaths.
