Inverness-based Wavegen sold an array of 16 turbines to the Basque Energy Board in Spain for £1 million. The firm said previous devices sold around the world had only been small-scale demonstrator projects.
Chief executive Matthew Seed said: “This milestone demonstrates just how far the industry has developed. We are delighted to have developed the first wave power plant to be sold on a commercial basis.”
