Thames Water Commercial Services has claimed many businesses that use substantial volumes of water are spending money unnecessarily, despite the market for non-domestic customers being open to competition for several years.
The firm said it has seen demand for its services surge, with The Gym Group – led by chief executive John Treharne – being one of the latest companies to take advantage of a contract Thames said can deliver “significant” savings and allow access to advice on how to improve sustainability.
Andrew Mathews, finance director of The Gym Group, said: “Unlike other operators in the sector, we do not class ourselves as heavy users, but, optimising water efficiency is important to us.
“As we look to expand across Scotland, any reduction in cost and/or consumption is very welcome and helps us to invest elsewhere and create more job opportunities.”
l Scottish Water International said it had completed a major assignment in Calgary, Canada.
