Scots do well in 'fairness' table

ASSET managers based in Scotland have performed well in a "stewardship" league table published today.

Using the Financial Reporting Council's stewardship code, a charity called FairPensions ranked firms in the asset management industry according to their record on engaging with the companies in which they hold stakes.

F&C Asset Management, which has a strong presence in Scotland, finished top of the table, followed by Edinburgh-based pair Baillie Gifford at number two and Aegon at number five.

Standard Life, Scottish Widows and Aberdeen Asset Management all finished in the top 20.
