Samsung joins the Olympus circus

ELECTRONICS giant Samsung yesterday joined the names circling ailing Japanese camera maker Olympus.

The Korean firm said it was open to forging an alliance with Olympus, which has been rocked by a $1.7 billion (£1.1bn) accounting scandal.

Rival electronics brands Panasonic and Sony have also been linked to a possible partnership with or takeover of the troubled firm.

Olympus is best known for cameras, but makes most of its money in healthcare, a stable area of business that other firms have long coveted.
