Rose says he is ready for new role

A YEAR after standing down as chairman of High Street stalwart Marks & Spencer, Sir Stuart Rose has announced that he would consider taking over as chairman of another FTSE company.

Rose will soon step down from his only senior UK non-executive post, at Land Securities, due to the City rules over length of service.

But Rose told a Sunday newspaper that he is “not retired” and that he would take on a senior role if it matched his experience and skills.

He said: “I would like to keep my toe in the Plc waters because I like the cut and thrust and the buzz of that.”

Rose will spark a debate about “excessive” corporate pay this week when he speaks at the launch of a report into “responsible” business practices written by the Ashridge Business School and the International Business Leaders Forum.
