Robert Laing to chair MMS

PARTNERS at Maclay Murray & Spens (MMS), one of Scotland's "big four" law firms, have elected banking specialist Robert Laing as the practice's new chairman.

Laing, who has been with the firm for 27 years, will take over from Philip Skerrett on 1 June, after his three-year term ends. Skerrett will remain with MMS as a consultant.

Magnus Swanson, chief executive of MMS, said: "The legal landscape continues to be extremely dynamic, with several significant changes on the horizon. In this context, Robert's election was a very natural decision for the partnership."
