Recruitment firm focuses on Australia

Contract Scotland, the Stirling-based recruitment firm, is launching a dedicated international division to supply Scottish workers for jobs abroad.

The company has hired Alan Shave as its international recruitment manager to work alongside director Colin Woodward. The pair’s initial focus is on Australia, where there is demand for civil engineers.

Skills shortages in Queensland and Western Australia have prompted the Scottish business to grow its international work.

Shave said: “Typical salaries for project managers are around £120,000 and would require candidates to work on a fly-in, fly-out roster, for which there would be a further 40 per cent salary uplift. These are multi-million-pound projects that offer interesting technical challenges that candidates just can’t get access to here.”

Contract Scotland has been operating internationally in the construction sector since 2007 and has been ramping up the number of jobs it fills in Australia over the past 18 months.
