RBS spin doctor Gaffney in Williams & Glyn’s switch

ROYAL Bank of Scotland spin doctor David Gaffney has been named as head of media and public affairs for Williams & Glyn’s, the new bank being forged from a network of 314 RBS branches.

Gaffney – who joined RBS in 2007 after cutting his teeth in the dark arts of public relations at Beattie Communications – will remain in Edinburgh to help craft the message for the consortium reviving Williams & Glyn’s, which includes the Church of England.

Alasdair Humphery, head of property consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle in Scotland, has been named as chairman of the Scottish Property Federation for 2014. He will take over from Jestyn Davies, managing director of Murray Estates.

Chris Quinn-Waugh has been named as the first general manager of the Chester Hotel in Aberdeen, which will open next year. He joins from Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace Hotel and has previously held general manager positions at the Macdonald Inchyra Grange and Houston House hotels.

Property maintenance specialist Novus has appointed Alan Cox as its business development manager for Scotland.
