Ramsay fronted the buyout of Change CRS (Now Change Recruitment Group) in 2006 alongside private equity company NGBI which took a significant stake. She left last year with the group’s turnover at almost £15m.

Her new company, Zed Recruitment, is based in Edinburgh and handles international as well as UK posts.

She began recruiting accountants in London in 1984 for a national company and returned to Scotland three years later to set up offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow for that business.

As director of a smaller specialist consultancy, she was the first to launch a specialist financial services and investments recruitment operation in Scotland in 1991.

She said: “I’m looking forward to using my experience and contacts for the benefit of clients in areas I know well. Zed won’t be trying to be the biggest but will instead focus on providing value.

“My team is already working with businesses which have exciting operations in the UK and globally, and need top quality staff to match their ambitions and who will contribute to their employer’s success in the long term.”
