Port group pays £12m dividend

CLYDEPORT, the west of Scotland harbour operator owned by billionaire John Whittaker’s Peel Group, paid £12 million in dividends to its parent company in its past financial year, according to accounts filed at Companies House.

The company – which operates ports at Ardrossan, Glasgow, Greenock and Hunterston – returned a profit of £11.9m in the year to 31 March, equal to the surplus during the previous 12 months. The dividend was also the same as last year.

Clydeport also operates Corpach in Fort William as a joint venture with Boyd Brothers and provides port services at Rosyth.

Clyde Port Authority, the forerunner to the present firm, was formed in 1966 and privatised in 1992. It listed on the stock exchange in 1994 and was taken private again by Peel in 2003.
