Plan to install defibrillator in Glasgow taxis

A MANUFACTURER has called on the Scottish Government to help fund a plan to install defibrillators in Glasgow taxis in an effort to help prevent deaths from heart attacks.

Allied Vehicles, which adapts cars and trucks into taxies and other special-purpose vehicles, is in discussions with the Scottish Ambulance Service and the government to implement the concept to help reach emergency cases faster.

Allied aims to see the project run first in Glasgow then across Scotland, ultimately rolling it out UK-wide. The initiative will involve giving taxi drivers who choose to participate training to operate the machines.
