Pizza chain set to up its price promotions

PIZZA and pasta restaurant chain Prezzo has posted a 12 per cent profits hike and signalled that price promotions will continue this year amid predictions of a bumpy 2010 for consumers.

The firm, which said the first quarter had started "somewhat encouragingly", is planning to boost offers and marketing to tempt diners.

Prezzo, which has some 140 restaurants across the UK, yesterday reported adjusted pre-tax profits of 12.9 million in the 12 months to 27 December, compared with 11.5m in 2008.
