Petrofac joint venture wins $2.1bn Oman contract

Oil and gas services group Petrofac has secured a share of a $2.1 billion (£1.3bn) contract in Oman.

The firm, which has major operations in Aberdeen and Montrose, will work alongside South Korean partner Daelim on the three-year contract to boost output at state-owned Orpic’s refinery.

Subramanian Sarma, Petrofac’s head of onshore engineering and construction, said: “Orpic is a new customer for us and we look forward to strengthening our relationship as the project progresses.”

Orpic’s refinery, in the Sohar industrial area, was built in 2006 and output its expected to rise by more than 70 per cent once the revamp is complete.
