Patisserie Valerie sets up shop at Glasgow Fort

Cafe chain Patisserie Valerie is set to launch its tenth outlet in Scotland next week.

The firm, owned by Aim-quoted Patisserie Holdings, is due to open its doors at the Glasgow Fort shopping centre on 8 March.

Chief executive Paul May said Glasgow Fort, which saw its footfall rise 6.5 per cent last year, was a “great location” for the brand, which traces its roots back to 1926.

He added: “This new store now brings us to ten stores within Scotland, and we hope this can continue to grow in the future. We hope our customers like the new store as much as we do.”

Patisserie Holdings, which floated in May 2014, also owns sandwich retailer Philpotts. The group saw its statutory pre-tax profits soar 40.4 per cent to £14.6 million in the year to 30 September, on revenues 20 per cent higher at £91.9m.

Glasgow Fort boasts more than 90 retailers, including H&M, Marks & Spencer, Next and Schuh, along with a Vue cinema.

Centre manager Phil Goodman said: “We are delighted to welcome Patisserie Valerie to Glasgow Fort. It will be a fantastic addition to our offering and we are confident it will be popular with our customers.”
