Order book rise at Morgan Sindall

CONSTRUCTION group Morgan Sindall yesterday reported a bumper order book, although sales in the first half of the year dipped.

The company, which owns Glasgow-based property developer Muse Developments and affordable housing and maintenance specialist Lovell, said challenging market conditions led to operating profits before exceptional items falling to £15.2 million, down from £16.2m. Revenues dipped 2 per cent to £998m.

But the group’s order book now stands at £2.7 billion, up 14 per cent on the previous year end, supported by a £3.2bn pipeline of regeneration schemes.

Key projects for Morgan Sindall in Scotland include a £24m office facility for Police Scotland in Dalmarnock, Glasgow. The company is also on site at four primary schools in South Lanarkshire as part of the council’s plan to renew every school in the region.
