New lease of life for refurbished Lewis castle

Holiday firm Natural Retreats announced today that it is creating 25 jobs by launching the ground floor of Lews Castle on the Isle of Lewis as a visitor attraction and luxury wedding and conference venue.

The refurbished and restored Lews Castle, which overlooks Stornoway Harbour and was built in the mid-1800s, is expected to attract at least 50,000 people to the Hebrides each year.

From early next year, the castle’s upper floor will offer luxury self-catering accommodation, with 23 en-suite bedrooms. The site is also home to the Museum nan Eilean.
