'New Heathrow runway will cost Britain £5bn'

THE UK will be £5 billion worse off if proposals to build a third runway at Heathrow go ahead, according to a report from the New Economics Foundation. NEF's calculation is based on the economic loss to the local community and environmental consequences.

By contrast, the government has calculated the runway would bring a 5.5bn benefit.
