On The Move: A round-up of the latest appointments in Scottish business - 23 March 2020

Global real estate advisor CBRE has announced the appointment of Gregor Porteous for its Operational Real Estate (OPRE) Scotland team.

He joins the firm from J&E Shepherd in Edinburgh where he was a commercial surveyor in the valuation team for over five years.

He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is also a Rics registered valuer.

Based in CBRE’s Glasgow office as a senior surveyor, Porteous will work alongside Jonathan Mitchell and Kathryn Bennett to cover the whole of Scotland with the OPRE team, undertaking all aspects of valuation for the healthcare, pubs, leisure, hotels and student accommodation sectors.

Kathryn Bennett, associate director in the OPRE Scotland team, said: “Bringing a wealth of experience gained over five years, Gregor’s appointment will allow us to enhance our existing valuation service to clients and expand our offering to transactional and advisory work across the healthcare, hotel, student accommodation, leisure and pub sectors.”

Graham + Sibbald, the independent Scottish property specialist, has continued to hire to strengthen its UK-wide credentials in the petroleum and roadside sectors.

Following the hire of Stephanie Walker as associate partner, the petroleum and roadside team at Graham + Sibbald has further strengthened the team with Cathy Noble being appointed as a sales administrator.

Calum Campbell, Graham + Sibbald’s managing partner, said: “It’s great to see the team continue to expand.” This latest acquisition follows on from the recruitment of Stephanie Walker.

Digital transformation specialist Cloud Technology Solutions (CTS) has appointed Tom Ray as chief operating officer in its Edinburgh office.

He joins CTS’ 14-person Edinburgh team from cloud computing consultancy Cloudreach, where he worked for nine years.

During this time, he held roles including global head of operations, head of Cloudreach USA and, most recently, the general manager of Microsoft Azure.

With more than 20+ years’ experience in technology, he has a strong track record of implementing digital strategies to help businesses grow and penetrate new markets.

The move comes as CTS aims to build on a strong 2019, which saw the digital transformation specialist post revenues of £27.5 million – which marked a 50 per cent increase on the previous year. Ray will work with chief executive officer James Doggart.
