Johnston was previously trained on a CodeClan software development course. He will be based in Edinburgh and joins Spectromax as part of its recruitment hiring initiative in Scotland. Previously working in Aberdeen’s oil and gas industry, Johnston wanted a career change that would open up new opportunities. He will hone his practical skills at Spectromax with the intention of gaining a professional development award in the near future.

“Taking the plunge to switch careers was no easy decision,” said Johnston. “With a growing number of jobs available in the IT sector, however, and companies such as Spectromax and CodeClan which are supporting training initiatives, I feel very supported in my ambition to start a new chapter of my work-life. Learning how to code has been hugely rewarding and I’m looking forward to being a fully fledged member of the Spectromax team.”

Over the past four years he built up his own business, Lomond Advisory, whose client base will follow him to Chiene & Tait.

Mason, who will work out of Edinburgh, said: “Ultimately the opportunity to become part of a larger, and fast-growing firm was impossible to refuse. I look forward to establishing and a strong corporate finance team within Chiene & Tait, enhancing the service the firm provides to existing clients.”

An experienced management professional has been appointed by the world’s largest fleet of mobile operating theatres to develop its business in Scotland. Wayne Simpson has been named senior account manager by Vanguard Healthcare, an international company that works closely with hospitals and health services to reduce waiting lists.

Simpson has worked with other healthcare technology companies such as Pfizer. “The NHS in Scotland was an early adopter of mobile health technology. In fact, mobile operating theatres were used in 2005 to help 150 patients at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen have their operations on time,” he said.
