Moray fighting back after RAF Kinloss closure

FORRES, one of the Moray towns affected by the closure of RAF Kinloss, received a jobs boost yesterday when outsourcing firm Capita revealed it will create 100 call centre jobs.

The staff will answer calls for a “major energy company”, including inquiries on bills, direct debits, payments and refunds. Recruitment will begin later this month, with the firm expecting to have staff in place before the end of February.

Local managing director Bruce MacLeod said: “When Capita was considering where to expand its contact centre operations, it looked at a number of possible options. That it chose Moray is recognition of the exceptional customer service the local people deliver to our customers.”

Analysts at RBC Capital Markets noted that the decision on Capita’s bid for a contract with Edinburgh City Council, expected before Christmas, had been delayed until the first quarter of next year.
