Mike Balfour, chief executive of Thomas Miller Investment which manages over £3 billion of funds, is to leave at the end of January.

Balfour, a former chief investment officer with Edinburgh Fund Managers and chief executive at Glasgow Investment Managers, told The Scotsman that although the role had been “challenging and enjoyable”, it was time for a change after commuting to London from Scotland for seven years.

He said he was keen to explore non-executive and advisory roles.
